To create a thriving, inclusive, and supportive community for Nigerian Muslims in Edinburgh by providing platforms for spiritual growth, educational advancement, mentorship, and social integration. We strive to strengthen the bonds of faith and brotherhood/sisterhood while contributing positively to the wider Scottish society.
To be the foremost community organisation for Nigerian Muslims in Edinburgh — a beacon of unity, knowledge, and service that empowers every member to excel in their faith, career, and community contributions while preserving their Nigerian-Islamic heritage in the diaspora.
Nigerian Muslims in Edinburgh (NMIE) was established to address a growing need among Nigerian Muslims in Scotland's capital — the need for a supportive community that understands the unique challenges and joys of navigating life in Edinburgh while holding firm to Islamic values and Nigerian cultural identity.
What began as informal gatherings among a small group of friends has grown into an organised community with regular events, structured programmes, and a genuine sense of belonging for its members. From students arriving at the University of Edinburgh to families settling in the city and professionals building their careers, NMIE has become a vital support network.
Over the years, we have organised Quran study circles, mentorship programmes, community iftars, educational workshops, and social events that bring together members from all walks of life. Our strength lies in our diversity of experience and our unity of purpose.
The principles that guide everything we do as a community.
Our foundation is rooted in Islamic teachings and values. We encourage spiritual growth and a strong connection with Allah in all aspects of life.
We believe in the power of togetherness. Building meaningful relationships and a strong support network is at the heart of who we are.
Continuous learning — both Islamic and secular — is key to personal development. We provide opportunities for intellectual and spiritual enrichment.
Serving others is an act of worship. We actively seek ways to give back to our members and the wider community through charitable work and volunteering.
